Il-76 MDK named Cosmos is specially converted for astronauts training under conditions of artificial zero-gravity. Aircraft wing and fuselage were strengthen, special equipment to ensure smooth working of all systems in weightlessness was installed. Walls and ceiling are trimmed with soft fabric, sport mats are fixed on the floor. Only three such aircrafts were created, they are all based on the Chkalovsky airport in Moscow.
Cosmonaut Training Center flying laboratories IL-76 MDK provide the possibility to achieve short-term weightlessness that lasts up to 25 seconds in one mode. During one flight (lasting for 1,5 - 2 hours) there are 10 different zero-gravity modes. Thus, total time spent in weightlessness state is about 250 seconds.
During zero-gravity state flight on the IL-76 MDK you will be able to experience the feeling of weightlessness – you will float freely and move in the craft without feeling your weight.
The total number of participants in the flight should not exceed 14 people, while the minimum number is not limited.
