KYZYL is located where the rivers By-Khem and Ka-Khem come together, which form the famous town of Yenisey. It was founded by the tsar's government in 1914 as a navigational point for those traveling the river. Today, Kyzyl is a large town and starting point for seeing the monument of the Center of Asia, the National Museum of Tuva and the Shaman's Clinic.

TERE-KHOL is considered one of the most beautiful lakes to visit, though difficult to get to as it stretches through the mountain hollow for 10 km. from the south-west to the north-east. Game fish, such as pike and ides, are plentiful in the river. Also, the people of the region use this water for drinking. During a single day’s travels in this most diverse region you can see sand deserts, steppes, forest-steppes, mountains covered with snow, tundra and bogs.

There are more than 50 CURATIVE SPRINGS in Tuva, both mineral and sweet. The Tuvans worship these springs, sing songs about them and always maintain the rite of visiting and thanksgiving for arjaan as the true gift of nature that it is.

STAROVERY is the common name given to sects derived from the original Russian Orthodox monks. They were persecuted in Russia from 1654-57 because of their opposition to liturgical reforms, which they viewed as Satanic. Fleeing from their persecutors, they moved to the most remote regions of the country.

THE MONGULEK MOUNTAIN rises 3577 meters above sea level. Always striking, this unusual mountain is crowned by beautiful ridges covered all year by snow. From Mongulek visitors can see a magnificent panorama.
